Anzac Day WWII Shamshuipo Tour 2016: a memorial to the Prisoners of War - the Review

Wednesday, 29th June 2016 at TBD

This event is in the past.

Anzac weekend was full of activities this year, starting with a game of footie at the Football Club on Saturday between the Chiefs Developement team and the Hong Kong national team.

Then on Sunday many braved the downpours to visit Sham Shui Po and its surroundings to learn more from Jason Wordie about various fascinating aspects of HK history and heritage.  We concluded the walk in Shan Shui Po park which was formerly the site of a POW camps during WWII.  Thank you to everyone who came - despite the weather!

On Monday morning, there were many familiar faces at the Dawn Ceremony. Thankfully it stayed dry for a solemn remembrance day of our ancestors who were involved in WWI, WWII & other wars, and the Chiefsconcluded the ceremony with a remarkable and emotional haka (although our hands were too full with our kids to capture a picture of this - sorry!).
