Event Ticket Booking Refunds

The New Zealand Society of Hong Kong (the Society) is a registered society established in 1957 as the community group for all New Zealanders resident in Hong Kong. It is and has always been a non-profit, self-funded and entirely volunteer-run society where all funds are applied to the running of the Society and its events and activities, or donated to charity. It is not a commercial organisation and where it is necessary to help fund a Society event by ticket bookings, the ticket price is set based on the cost of organising and holding the event only. The price of tickets to be issued to members are then further subsidised from the general funds of the Society to encourage participation by members, with children's tickets heavily subsidised to encourage member family participation. Tickets are also made available to non-members, as either guests of members or independently.


All event tickets issued by the Society are refundable.


Member Tickets

  1. Where a member has bought a ticket and wishes to cancel, they can do so by emailing kiwi@nzshk.org at least 15 days ahead of the event. Adult members will receive a full refund less a pro-rata provision for any deposits paid by the Society for the event.
  2. Where the Society determines an event should be cancelled due to insufficient numbers attending, members will receive a full refund less a pro-rata provision for any deposits paid by the Society for the event.
  3. Children tickets will receive a full refund in any event.

Non-member Tickets

  1. Where a non-member has bought a ticket and wishes to cancel, they can do so by emailing kiwi@nzshk.org at least 30 days ahead of the event. Members will receive a full refund less a pro-rata provision for administrative costs (including any deposits paid by the Society) directly associated with organising the event.
  2. Where the Society determines an event should be cancelled due to insufficient numbers attending, non-members will receive a full refund less a pro-rata provision for administrative costs (including any deposits paid by the Society) directly associated with organising the event.

 Timing of Refunds

  • Refunds will be made promptly following the original date scheduled for the event.
  • Payments made by credit card or Paypal: within 7 days after the event date.
  • Payments made by cheque/bank deposit/bank transfer: within 14 days after the event date.
