The New Zealand Society of Hong Kong has been active since 1957 and aims to promote contacts between New Zealanders living in Hong Kong and those people interested in New Zealand.  Throughout its six decades of existence it has always been an entirely volunteer-run non-profit society, with all funds raised applied to subsidise events and activities for the NZ community in Hong Kong or donated to charities.

Society Objectives

  • To further encourage the interests of New Zealand and to promote and encourage fellowship among New Zealanders who reside in Hong Kong and Members of the Society.
  • To promote and hold social and cultural activities such as the NZSHK Christmas Party, Waitangi Day event, an Anzac Day service, annual KiwiBall, regular cultural, sporting & social events, family events etc, either alone or jointly with other societies, clubs or persons, for the benefit of the members of the Society and the NZ community in Hong Kong.
  • To promote the observances of national occasions and entertainment of prominent New Zealanders or groups of New Zealanders who may be visiting Hong Kong.
  • To carry out fund-raising activities and/or to donate the proceeds arising therefrom to such charitable organizations and for the benefit of the Society as may be proposed by the Committee.

Your subscription goes entirely towards supporting the New Zealand community in Hong Kong.

Being a member of the New Zealand Society comes with a number of privileges. In addition to preferential bookings and heavily subsidised member prices at all NZSHK events, members can enjoy everyday benefits including extra baggage allowances with Air New Zealand for all classes of travel. Other benefits include special offers from various retailers in Hong Kong and discounts on dining and accommodation at a number of hotels in Hong Kong and around the world. What's more, members can also enjoy a free drink when attending the NZSHK's monthly get-together - KonnectioNZ. Check out all the lastet offers on the Benefits page.

The Buzz...

An electronic bulletin of events called The Buzz is published by the NZSHK which contains information about the Society's activities and other events in Hong Kong, and the rest of China through the KiwiConnect network, with a kiwi theme or flavour.

KonnectioNZ (which is open to all New Zealanders living in Hong Kong and their guests) meets monthly, usually on the last Friday of every month (check the Events section for any changes to the date).

KiwiConnect network in Greater China

The NZSHK is a founding partner of the KiwiConnect Greater China network, which aims to support the broader NZ community in China.  As a result your membership of the NZSHK helps support the NZ community in the rest of China, and also allows you reciprocal attendance at any KiwiConnect event throughout China (including Shanghai & Guangzhou) and at member prices (where applicable).

The annual subscription is available for both single ($450) and family membership ($600). Fees for members renewing from the previous year are $400/$500 respectively. Membership runs for 1 year from the date of joining.  Sign up now!  Support your community!
